#14 Turpins, Tywcross

Image
Our Order Liefmanns, On The Rocks £4.10 Sierra Nevada £3.95 Blue Moon £4.30 Mediterranean Platter £13.50 Carved Ham & Egg £10.50 Pork Belly £14.25 Total £50.60 9.5/10 We've been to Turpins once before and really enjoy it. Its slightly posher than where we normally choose to go but we treat it as a date night and it makes it an enjoyable night out. Both times, we started with the Mediterranean platter and the only comment is that there should be just 1 more pitta bread. Everything else is amazing. The meats go really well together along with pitta and I'm not sure what the orange paste is (it's probably a hummus) but that  we can both eat straight out the pot, it's delicious. Previously, I went for the steak pie which is nice if you like the shortcrust pastry (which I don't). With this in mind, I went for something different this time so I picked the gammon ham & eggs. Gammon ham is probably my favourite meat so I find it hard for somewhere to go...

#13 Bagel Break, Leicester

Image
Our Order Cheese Bagel - Chorizo - Melted Cheese - Sweetcorn, Pickles - Sweet Chilli Sauce £2.99 Cheese Bagel - New York Pastrami - Melted Cheese - Jalapenos, Pickles, Red Onions - Garlic Mayo £2.99 Total £5.98 10/10 We've been to Bagel Break a few times before and just feel like more people need to know about it! It's like Subway but with Bagels and like, 10 times better! The service is always so good and everyone is so lovely and I think it's a reasonable price. On this occasion, we went in when they had an offer on which I think they do most days (Any bagel £2.99 between 4pm & 7pm) which makes it really hard to not go in. I think its so hard to get this wrong as you get to pick everything on you bagel but they do also offer breakfast bagels, pizza bagels & smoothies (I'd recommend the Cherry Boost) Usually, I go for the New York Pastrami with melted cheese on a cheese bagel, with lettuce, sweetcorn and the mild mustard sauce and it's just incre...

Banana Cake Recipe

Image
Ingredients: 300g Cake Mix (As always, if you're better than us you can make your own but we buy the pre made 40p bag from Tesco) 100ml Water 1 Egg 3-4 Bananas Almond Flavouring Mixing Bowl Whisk Loaf Shaped Cake Tray (We used a Lasagne bowl because we were unprepared) Butter/Grease Proof Paper (depending on preference) Instructions 1) Preheat your oven to 160 degrees 2) Empty your cake mix, 100ml of water, egg & 1 tbsp into your mixing bowl 3) Mix thoroughly ensuring there are no lumps 4) Add in your bananas one by one, ensuring the batter is smooth before adding another. We only used 3 because they were almost completely brown so they were very sweet but you can add them as per your preference 5) Line/butter your baking tray 6) Bake for 45 minutes 7) Allow to cool We didn't decorate our cake but the option is always there if you want to. We did partner it with Nutella, Peatnut Butter & Vanilla Frosting and they really helped bring the banana flavo...

#12 Black Bear Burger / Nosteagia, Shoreditch

Image
Black Bear Order Black Bear £7.50 Brisket £8.50 Fries £3.50 Total £19.50 7/10 Nosteagia Order Bananarama £4.50 1 Vanilla Scoop £1 Total £5.50 6/10 Overall 7/10 We spent the Bank Holiday in London and popped over to Shoreditch after seeing Black Bear Burger and Nosteagia on Instagram. They're both located in the Boxpark pop-up mall which offers shopping, food and different events. We were starving so it was exciting to see all the different food places that Boxpark has to offer. It was slightly disappointing to see that Black Bear only has 3 different burgers on its menu but we still wanted to try it anyway. I went for the Black Bear Burger which was great - a patty, with cheese, onion jam, bacon and garlic mayo and everything worked really well together. The patty itself was cooked really nicely and you could taste the meat through everything else. Jed's was more disappointing for saying he went for a bigger burger. He picked the Brisket burger which comes with a p...

#11 Hanbao, Worcester

Image
Our Order Bakewell Tart £7 Lucky Buddha £4 Jermaican Me Crazy £11.50 Odd Future £12.50 Shaolin Fries £6 Total £41 10/10 We already knew we were de-touring on our way home from Snowdonia to come to Hanbao because we've followed them on instagram since we started our food blog. It looks consistantly amazing and we were talking about going back the moment we left! The atmosphere is great and it has quite an indie vibe to it due to the interior design and music but its somewhere that everyone would enjoy. You walk into the bar area which still has some tables in it but seems like it would be a great place to have some drinks either before or after food. We were seated in the back right next to the kitchen so we were able to be nosy at all the food coming out of the kitchen. I went for the Bakewell Tart cocktail which I knew I was going to like because I'm a sucker for bakewells but, same as the lemonberry cocktail at Boneyard, Leicester, I just wish there was more of it...

#10 Wildwood, Llandudno

Image
Our Order Amaretto & Coke Baked Spaghetti Carbonara £10.95 Carne Pizza - Classic £10.55 Mozzarella & Garlic Bread £5.75 £ 7.5/10 (I may or may not have accidentally washed the receipt and have a memory like a sieve so I can't tell you exactly what our bill came too or how much drinks were) We spent last weekend in Snowdonia and went for a little adventure around Conwy and Llandudno while we were there. Our original plan was to head back to our Glamping site (Surf Snowdonia) to eat but thought that we would try Wildwood as Jed had seen it in Market Harborough a few times. After looking through their website for prices for you guys, I found that there's actually a few of them dotted around the place. Whilst I'm glad we didn't end up eating at our site, we did end up being a little disappointed with our food. The menu and interior design we're great and everything looked very appealing and the food genuinely wasn't bad but I think we were just ex...
