We already knew we were de-touring on our way home from Snowdonia to come to Hanbao because we've followed them on instagram since we started our food blog. It looks consistantly amazing and we were talking about going back the moment we left!
The atmosphere is great and it has quite an indie vibe to it due to the interior design and music but its somewhere that everyone would enjoy. You walk into the bar area which still has some tables in it but seems like it would be a great place to have some drinks either before or after food. We were seated in the back right next to the kitchen so we were able to be nosy at all the food coming out of the kitchen.
I went for the Bakewell Tart cocktail which I knew I was going to like because I'm a sucker for bakewells but, same as the lemonberry cocktail at Boneyard, Leicester, I just wish there was more of it!
We had such a hard time deciding what we wanted! Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing and every burger just sounded delicious. We both wanted the ODB for a little bit but seeing as we didn't know when we'd be coming back, we wanted something incredibly different. And boy, did we get different.
Jed's Jermaican burger was a double aged patty, cheese, pulled jerk pork, twister fries, twerk sauce, mango slaw, lime & coriander mayo and for the first time, I didn't actually try any of it but it looked amazing. My burger was the Odd Future burger which was double aged patty, cheese, bourbon bacon jam, maple pancetta bacon, fresh chilli, baconnaise, glazed donut bun and the sweetness of the doughnut with the savoury meats complimented each other so well. Different to the doughnut burger Jed had at The Smoke Haus in Birmingham, my doughnut came with icing and sprinkles and I think that was what made it so even nicer than The Smoke Haus' version.
Both burgers came piled high and we were absolute messes by the time we'd finished so expect to get into the biggest mess you've ever got into with food. Totally worth it though!
The portion size of the fries was perfect. We shared them but you could probably have your own portion if you we're hungry enough. The Shaolin Fries came with seasoned mixed fries, fresh chilli, diced roasted char siu pork belly, char siu glaze, toasted sesame mayo and spring onion and for me, the best part was the mayo.
I'm completely lost for words with the meal as a hole. All I can do it recommend that if you're ever in Worcester, then you need to try this place! (I also recommend that you book in advance as they were full even at 5:15.)
Thank you, Hanbao, for being our second 10/10. Your food, atmosphere and service were perfect!
