After struggling to find Almost Famous on the Saturday, we were sure to find the place on Sunday. We had checked the menu on the Saturday and we were really excited to jump into it, especially after feeling the vibes as soon as we walked through the door. It wasn't too busy but you could feel the buzz.
We struggled to settle on something for a while but my heart was telling me to go for the River Phoenix immediately purely for the Frazzles - I really wanted something different. The frazzles added a great texture to the burger, I just wanted more. It sounded like it was almost going to be BBQ overload, but it wasn't. Everything was came together really nicely and it was a generally good burger!
We both rated the patty's. Their regular pattys are relatively thin but they are full of flavour and cooked incredibly. All this meant is that their "extra thick" pattys, are just a regular patty but they are still super tasty!
Jed's DTF was almost like a classic American burger. Unfortunately, Jed really didn't like the onions. He took them off almost immediately which is really unusual as he LOVES onions. He really liked the burger without them and I tried it once he had taken them off too and it was solid - the onions just seems like a let down unfortunately.
We finished off with the tots and they really pulled it back for Jed. We'd never tried Tots before and didn't know what to expect but they were worth going in for alone. The Chilli was delicious. Then topped with sour cream, which I don't usually like but could tolerate mixed with the other flavours, and the hot sauce just made for a big ol' mix of flavour.
Overall, we'd totally recommend Almost Famous. We just had too much of a struggle finding the place after using as address on their website that took us to the other side of Manchester (in fairness, it did lead us to Yard&Coop so not all bad) and then Jed's onions were a let down. But apart from that, two thumbs up!
