After wandering round for about half an hour, looking for Almost Famous, we had no luck so we headed into Yard & Coop instead.
The place was filled to the brim and had a great atmosphere (and an ever better drinks menu). The variety of beers they offer is something and there was also a good few options for cocktails too. Both had nothing on the food menu though.
Making a decision of something to eat was so hard as we both wanted everything on the menu, especially after seeing the food coming out of the kitchen.
I was torn between trying the Dr Pepper sauce and the buffalo sauce so decided to go with the Double Mac with a side of buffalo because I'm greedy and refuse to regret not eating something. It was such a good decision though.
The coating on the chicken was perfectly crispy but not too hard and it didn't stop the chicken from being completely juicy. I tend to have a hard time with Mac & Cheese but damn, this was good - worked strangely well the with the Dr Pepper chicken. However, the best thing about the plate was the the wings. We've had similar wings in Bodega, Leicester and these definitely match up. Seems like Dr Pepper sauce is a good choice for chicken wings.
Jed finally landed on the chicken thighs. He went for a side of Blue Cheese sauce and then the Chinese chips. The thighs were boneless which was an added bonus but they tasted great. Having the sauce on the side meant we got to taste their chicken and regular batter and it was just a great combination - less crispy than my Dr Pepper coating but still so juicy.
I felt like the plain fries felt a little bit forgotten about but the Chinese chips were literally like being in a Chinese restaurant.
Overall, just really good, solid food. They offer great variety in everything they offer on all menus. Definitely recommend!
Thanks for being great Yard & Coop!
