We headed over to Boneyard on the day of their new menu launch (19th April). We've walked past this place time and time again and finally decided that we'd give it a try. We were initially impressed with the atmosphere and vibes - they had a live DJ in house and an a dark interior which was lit by fairy lights and LED slogans which we love.
The drinks list is pretty impressive as the shooters and cocktails they offer are completely different to a lot of places we've been before E.G Peanut Butter Jelly Shooters & Lemonberry Tart Cocktail. It was the warmest day of the year so we wanted something refreshing to drink. I went with the Lemonberry tart cocktail which was to die for. It came with 2 raspberries and a slice of lemon and whilst the colour was muted vs a lot of cocktails, the taste was so sweet it made up for the appearance of it. My only complaint is that I wanted more of it.
Looking through the menu, it became clear that it is a street food style restaurant. Everything they offer comes fully loaded with flavour and ingredients that make your portion sizes huge. I went for a Pork Snatch which is their twist on a Dirty Kebab. It was Pork marinated & slow roasted pork shoulder, chickpea, cumin and paprika hummus, fennel, cabbage and lemon slaw, handmade cucumber and red onion pickles, coriander & Thai Slaughter Sauce on top of a flatbread and came with a side of pork scratchings. The hummus and slaw was underneath the pork so I mixed it all together and it made an incredibly rich flavour that was delicious. I did end up taking everything off of the flatbread and eating that separately but even that was good.
Jed's Double Asian Beef Burger can with 2 marinated beef patties grilled and glazed in Thai Slaughter Sauce, melted American double cheese and glazed smoked bacon, baby leaf spinach, coriander aioli, red cabbage, fennel and lime slaw, spiced tomato relish, coriander and came in a charcoal bun. I only had one taste of it but in all honesty, I wish I had gone for the burger over the kebab. You easily could have picked anything apart and ate it all separately and it would've tasted just as good because you could identify every individual flavour in a bite.
The fries are an additional side but they also offer "Top Loaders" as well. We went for the Lamb Tobasco Top Loader which is slow cooked pulled lamb shoulder, pickled red onion, coriander, Boneyard tomato chutney, ginger glazed smoked bacon, Tobasco,  smokey chickpea and natural yoghurt hummus. Whilst the hummus and lamb are separated on top of the fries, you get everything else underneath them both which gives you the option to mix everything as you want. Again, all the flavours come through in a way that you can identify what everything is.
The service was also really good. My kebab was too big so I wasn't able to finish it and we only managed half of the fries so but we really wanted to take it home, so we asked our server for some boxes for the leftovers and he offered to box them out back for us. He then told us that the kitchen accidentally through them away so they were making a fresh batch for us which we were really impressed with. The service, mixed with the music, atmosphere and food made this a really enjoyable place that we would recommend to anyone who really wants to indulge.
