After arriving in Nottingham, we were pretty damn hungry and knew we were in for a big night so we popped into Red Dog Saloon for a bite to eat. Immediately, the service was great. We were seated in the bar area so we had to go and order our food but it really wasn't an issue.
Before we get into the food, we just want to say that this place was initially a 10/10 but once we compared it to everything else we ate that weekend, it just wasn't on par. Red Dog was amazing, it just so happened that everything else was even better.
I went for the Dark Plate of Southern Fried Chicken which consisted of 2 legs and a thigh. It was seriously yummy. Obviously cooked to order as it came to the table steaming hot. The coating on the chicken was cooked to perfection. It was a little crispy but the chicken was still so so so juicy and everything was just full of flavour. The Guerilla Fries were fries topped with American cheese, caramelised onions & Red Dog sauce and they were also really good. We topped them off with a little mustard and ketchup and it really pulled them together.
I was really happy with my meal, and then I tried Jed's. And I was jealous.
The Philly Cheeseburger. Wafer thin shaved beef, sauteed onions & cheeze wiz: Philadelphia’s famous cheesesteak served on top of our signature Cheeseburger. It was smothered in mustard and ketchup and melted cheese and just everything together made for a really great burger. There wasn't a different flavour in every bite but it was a real solid flavour that made for a solid meal so it didn't matter too much.
Sometimes we can find in these themed restaurants that the food isn't that great but everything really worked together in this place. Completely recommend! Thanks for being great - hopefully see you soon!
