We really enjoyed it here. Jed has been eyeing Mac & Wild up for the longest time on Instagram and seeing as we were finally coming to London, we gave it a go. It immediately had a really fun vibe and we loved the industrial theming of the restaurant. Not to mention the music was amazing.
We decided there was too much on the menu to miss out so went for their Venimoo burger to share as well as the Wilderness chips, venison scotch egg and haggis pops on the side.
The service was quick and the food came in good time so we both jumped right into the haggis pops which were incredible. We're really big fans of Haggis and these were the right mix of crunchy from that coating and spicy from the haggis. They also came with a pot of sauce and we have no idea what it was but it was definitely worth a try! After that, we cut into the Venison scotch egg which revealed a perfectly runny egg and thick coating around it. Whilst the flavour was a little rich for both of our palettes, it does not negate how yummy it was!
Then the burger. We know we've said this a few times now, but it was like a posh Big Mac but better. The sauce tasted like the Big Mac sauce but as all the other ingredients were of a higher quality, the taste of the burger was overall better quality. It was really good and pretty much exactly what we were after to set us up for the rest of the day.
Finally, the chips. We poured them out so we could soak up the sauce on the rest of the chips and it was a real good decision. Their black isle lager & whiskey sauce is just as good as it sounds and if you get the shallots, bacon, sauce and chips all in one mouthful, you are in for a treat.
Needless to say, it was a great meal. We thoroughly recommend having a big mix of pickies on the table so you really get the taste of Scotland!
