Back to Market Harborough this time, where it all began and again, we weren't disappointed. When you first walk in, it looks like a tiny little pub but as you walk through the first door, it looks like the restaurant goes much further back. However there appeared to be an event going on so we didn't look further into just how big The Three Swans is. As we were waiting for our food, we were flicking through our Instagram feed and all the food we could see made us think we were going to be disappointed with what we had ordered. This wasn't the case.
The first pickies came out together and whilst they didn't look like much, we devoured them. The mac & cheese balls came with a tomato sauce which was so different to a ketchup which is why I don't think I can call it a ketchup. Either way, the two combined was spot on. The sausages at first didn't look like much, just like little chipolata with a mustard rubbed on it, and that may have been the case, but either way they were delicious. The breads came with 3 different types with a balsamic vinegar and oil which you can't go wrong with.
Then came the mains - massive portion sizes, gorgeously presented and downright delicious. My fish was obviously fresh as it fell apart beautifully and the chips were obviously made in house as no two looked the same. Jed ordered the pork which has been seasoned to perfection as well as the potatoes and we ended up picking off each others plates. HOWEVER, the best thing of all was the gravy that came with the pork. I know that sounds backwards but you won't understand unless you try it. The gravy was thick and must have been made with the stock of the meats in the kitchen but it worked with everything: the pork, the fish and the potatoes.
The only thing holding The Three Swans back from a 10 was everything was just a bit hectic and unorganized and there wasn't too much of a fun atmosphere. The food was just so good we had to give it a 9!
