We popped in here before seeing Fall Out Boy at The Arena in Birmingham and were pleasantly surprised. We were almost against coming in as we thought it looked like a chain but after looking further into it there are only 4 in the UK: Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol & Birmingham.
To start, the milkshake was to die for - an even mix of peanut butter and chocolate but what really made it was the peanut butter smothered around the rim topped with what I believe is crushed digestive biscuits. Amazing!
I went for the threesome plate in order to taste three of the meats but they do offer a twosome plate at a lesser charge. For me, the ribs were the best thing on the plate after the pit gravy which is in a league of its own. The BBQ flavour was delicious and there was plenty of meat on the bone. Seeing as we were in what looked to be a very Americanised restaurant, I went for the briskett which isn't the nicest but was still impressive and then the quarter chicken because I wanted to try it with the gravy.
The donut burger immediately caught Jed's eye and seeing as we wanted to review this place, he went for something different. It was worth it, even from the 2 bites I had of it. 2 ring doughnuts, with a burger, bacon and melted cheese between them - the perfect mix of savory and sweet. Definitely worth the order. We had fast service and the waitress was polite in saying what they didn't have in stock. So next time you happen to be in Brindley Place, I would highly recommend The Smoke Haus!
