After a 4.5+ hour drive up to Newcastle, and then a 15 minute walk through the snow and ice, we were pretty damn hungry! Pizza Punks was the first place we saw so we headed straight in and we did not regret this decision! We got there at just the right time as they'd been turning people away but just happened to have a table by the time we arrived. The atmosphere was great, the music even better and the staff were super friendly too.
I had spotted the Cheeseburger pizza on the menu before we went in and knew I had to try it! It was a really good choice. Topped with Cheddar, Meatballs, Relish & Pickles, didn't quite taste like a cheeseburger but it all worked together so well that you can't be mad about it. The ingredients used were clearly great quality which made for a solid pizza.
As you can see, Jed went a bit mental with his pizza but you really couldn't judge it until you tried it. It was actually really nice - the flavours didn't mix too much so you could taste them all individually as opposed to having a big weird flavour in each bite. The only thing that let the pizza down was was the Chipotle & Chocolate Pulled pork but I think that was just our own preference. The Newcastle Brown Ale Brisket really pulled it back though!
They also have an awesome range of cocktails and beers so we were pretty much in heaven. We normally don't go for pizza but this was a really good start to our Newcastle adventure. Highly recommend!
